Angry Springfield Armory M1A 20 round Magazine issue

My three Springfield Armory 20 round magazines all making metal rattling noise when you handle them after 4th round are loaded. With first two email getting no response since December 2016, I finally has a customer service contact me let me know it is "Normal" because ammo movement in the magazine via the 3rd email try. I also have 4 CMI, 2 Chinese Norinco and 4 Taiwanese T57 20 round magazines. None of them showing such rattling noise when I handle them.

Sorry that Springfield Armory is no longer the SA we have known.

Hummm. Different mags will all have different amounts of spring tension when loaded and unloaded, so why the opine.

The SAI mags you have are the same thing as CMI they are identical except the stamp.

Are the mags that rattle brand new, or did you buy them used?

Until you get your tremors under control, you won't see an accuracy improvement and the rattling noise will continue to bother you.

Hell, even my OM Mags, with Xtra Power Wolff Springs in them, had a rattle after a few Rounds were loaded
If they feed .... run them
You're not sleekin'-up on folks ....ARE YOU ? ? ?

Some rattle, some don't. That's what M14 magazines do. If they feed, you've got no problem.

I think he's opining about the time it took for Springfield to respond to his question, and, I have to agree.

I sent them a serial# born on date request Saturday, now it's Friday and crickets...

Can you imagine how many e-mails they must get flooded with every day? Everything from important stuff like "My gun broke" or "My new purchase is missing____", miscellaneous stuff such as "How do I adjust sights?" on through "Where can I buy a XD pistol" and even "Do you guys have free stickers"?

With any company these days, if it is important I call and wait my 13 minutes on hold until it's resolved. E-mail if for members of the "Free sh_t army" who would get weeded out after less than 2 minutes on hold.

I am calmer and can better describe my problem.

1. All three are brand new bought it at local Gunshow with seal SA packing on December 2016 for my birthday.
2. All three has same noise issue.
3. All three SA magazines function well until cycling 3rd/4rd, then you might get feeding issue.
4. The are not cover by SA warranty.

Finally, I do understand SA are busy and receive thousands and thousands email daily. Sorry, this is not an excuse for SA Customer Service. SA Customer Service does have problem when a SA customer does not get any response for more than 3 months.

With your suggestions and my co-works help. With 10 rounds each on Win 308, Rem 308, SilverBear 308, Nato 7.62, and Surplus 7.62, I further troubleshoot the mags and found out;

1. The noise is coming form the 3rd round (may be plus 4th round) will move freely when the 4th or 6th or 8th or 10th round being loaded.

2. All three SA springs and followers works well with CMI box.

3. Unfortunate, all three SA boxes still present similar issue with all CMI springs and followers.

These SA springs and followers as spare parts now. I will also order a couple more T57 instead wasting my hard working money on SA anymore.

Thanks everyone.

:)
