Old ammo question

While digging for treasures in the storage room (better known as the garage) I came across a few FAL magazines that had been loaded with ammo in the days when we had a regulated firing range in South Orange County. Yes the stuff is that old. The headstamps reads "INDUMIL" and the number 84. I believe this is Colombian and the bullets test ferrous. My question is: Does anybody know whether this ammo would still be any good? The cartridges are in very good shape with normal patina and no visible corrosion. The primers seem to be sealed with green stuff and the garage never gets extremely hot. Also, if I am not mistaken, the ammo shot fairly well (as well at least as I could send it downrange back then).

In the late 70's and early 80's I had a couple of cases of WWI era .30-06 ball ammo. Who knows how it had been stored or what its history was. It all went bang with fair accuracy except for two rounds. That's 2 out of about 2400 rounds.

Cool

Howdy,

If it has been stored properly and is not corroded, it should be fine.

Is the range you are referring to the South Coast Gun Club?

If so, the first time I went there it was on the west side of the San Diego freeway.

Oops, I am showing my age.

Keep yer powder dry,

John

Should be good to go, a lot of us here shoot Hert ammo from the 70's and 80's with good results.

The range was at the end of Sand Canyon, next to the Sheriff range. Lot of buildings there now. Now I am showing my age!

Thank you all, now I'll have to dig out the FAL from the back of the safe and find a place to properly dispose of these rounds. I am thinking Rancho Deliverance perhaps.

I have US Military M1 ball ammo from 1931 and 34 that I shoot on a regular basis zero issues other than a good cleaning afterwards and I wash the brass to take the salt out so it can be stored for reloading!
