I have understood that the offending part of shooters choice/kroil was shooters choice. shooters choice is a good product. However, a benchrest shooter and chemist said the reaction was between shooters choice and sweet's. All three are excellent products if used properly. Just another opinion.

Very possible that I'm not remembering the specifics correctly - it's been quite a while.

I have used sweets in my bench rifles for a long time and standard procedure with BR shooters is;
Several wet patches of a brake cleaner (gunscrubber or just plain auto brake cleaner cheaper the Gunscrubber). To loosen the carbon buildup.
let sit and patch out.

Several patches of Sweets and let sit for a few minutes then patch out. Will turn blue that's the copper sulfate residue keep doing till blue is gone may take a while.

If its not going away take a Bronze brush with sweets and scrub bore a bunch of times.
Never a stainless brush will score the bore.
Let sit.

If its still blue continue need to get copper out.

Also if still have some carbon in barrel use some hydrogen peroxide after a patch of sweets it will foam use some patches to remove it.
If still dirty repeat.

Lastly use several patches of brake cleaner to remove the solvent from the bore.
When satisfied with all solvent is removed put a few dry patches down bore to remove brake cleaner, then some oil if so desired.
Yes it takes a while but patches are cheaper the barrels.

Thanks from ripcord
