Question

Thanks guys, I just bought some SA that is headstamped,
R1M1 B81. This is the first SA that I have bought and I noticed that it doesn't have the N.A.T.O + and was wondering about that.

NATO = North Atlantic Treaty Organization

South Africa = South Africa (not in the North Atlantic)

NATO was created as a counter to the very real past threat that was posed by the Soviet Union to the nations in a region.

South Africa was not in the same region.

Sure. No problem.

A NATO headstamp may be viewed as an assurance of good quality ammo military ammo because it must meet strict specs. (Assuming proper storage conditions)

But many ammo producers manufacture fine quality ammo that are the equivalent of NATO specs.

The SA stuff I have shot has been on a par with the NATO stuff I have shot.

Question

I have noticed that it takes a lot more time to clean my rifle after shooting SA as compared to LC. Has anyone else experienced this?

+1 Here, that is one of the Reasons why SA is one of my least favorite Surp. Ammos, for a while there my Shooting Partner thought it may be Corrosive but I know it is not, another reason why I dont like it that much is that the Groups start to fall apart at 300yds, but its all the Surp. there is around these Days.
