Any 7.62MM Ball Recommendations?

Gentlemen I need your advice. I've been looking to purchase a 1-2K lot of NATO(ish) 7.62MM Ball for a rainy day, spend around .60-65 cents a round, but, all the ammo I've seen or researched especially the wealth of info on this site has some issue :

Had my sights set on some "IMI", until I found it's not really up to NATO specs and they're not a NATO country, and the reports I read here about a 2014 lot blowing out primers.

Saw some new production "Magtech/CBC" at a very reasonable price, then saw some product reviews saying it was "Minute of barn door" and accuracy was poor. Also I remember that bad deal in the 1990's when guns started blowing up, and it was discovered some "Sandinista" had spiked the ammo with HE!

Then saw some Lithuanian "GGG", that stuff looked awesome, real NATO ammo in the can, all the previous reviews were great, and I was ready to buy until I saw 2 reports here that the 2015 lot soured with poor accuracy. Anyone tried the 2016 lot?

And "MEN" out of Germany, 2016 production, supposed to be boxer primed, don't think it's quite NATO, anyone shot it?

Lastly "PMC Bronze" is also in my price range, don't think it's NATO either, but, it's zippy and haven't seen anything negative so far..

I'll be shooting this in an M1A & 7.62 Garand, would like to reload the brass, and don't want to get stuck with a huge lot of subpar ammo when I get around to shooting it. I was looking to do a deal before Nov 8th if you get my drift. Anyone shooting any of this stuff in available (2016) lots, have recommendations or suggestions?

In addition to the aforementioned country/lots, there were some recent notes here:

Which surplus 7.62x51 ?

I've had good luck with Hirtenberger (Austria, '75 and '80) out of both of my rifles, but one of your requirements was to reload, and not sure if you want to deal with Berdan primers.

Thanks for the redirect, looks like I'm rehashing other threads and age old questions(lol), but, ammo is a pretty big deal these days....

Yes, it must be reloadable, for me that's almost half the value of the ammo.

Ripp,

PMC makes a great .308 / 7.62x51 M80 ball load.I have run it through my M1a with great results. SGAmmo has it in 500 round cases.

Palmetto State Armory runs deals on Federal 7.62x51 XM-80C every now and then. Great ammo. Sing up for their e-mail deals so you don't miss out.

The right stuff is out there. Ya just gotta find it.

B.

I'll add to the list of PPU (Serbian) supporters. I've gotten the 500 ammo can version before, and it's never let me down. Brass seemed clean too.

I'm sold on the 70's Hirtenberger from military shooters in Wisconsin. Less than 60 cents delivered, looks like new production and shoots very well for me. If money were no object I'd buy all I could find. This is not reloadable brass, the 80's production stuff is.

My surplus is 1983 HIRT boxer primed. It is great stuff. If I had a second or 3rd choice I would get Federal from palmetto when it is on sale for .50 a round OR lastly maybe a toss up between MEN or ZQI maybe??? The 1970's HIRT is a great option too.

Well Yes... "and the judge wasn't going to look at the 27 8x10" color glossy pictures with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one, because it was a typical case of American blind justice".

This was somewhat of a panic buy because I don't see prices getting any lower, and with this election right around the corner and depending on how that goes(?)...Things could get worse and be right back to $1+ a trigger pull, so decided to hedge my bet for a worst case scenario. Also I've heard that most suppliers like SG are pretty much done stocking their shelves this year, they're down to 12 cases of the GGG and 6 of the PPU, so decided to follow the golden rules of ammunition.

Lets get passed this darn election angst, either this stuff is going into hibernation, or Nov 9 will be a shiny new day, and no reason not to put a few rounds of this stuff through my Savage 10FP for an accuracy review.

Saw one of your posts saying the days of recreational shooting are almost done, man ain't that the truth!
