With the ammo shortage and manufacturers just beginning to catch up running 30 hours a day, inspection on any brand is a good idea if possible. If you buy a lot of ammo inspect at least three or four boxes from different places in your shipment before you're satisfied. Gun show ammo and bulk packed ammo? Sometimes price isn't everything!

Even some reloading supplies I've bought have shown lack of quality control.

I think every one will be happy when things return to more normal...

2 bad rounds out of 200 raises the CPR of the remaining rounds by one-third of a CPR.

Not a big deal when you're saving several CPR by buying bulk.

I learned several years ago to stay away from WWB ammo. When I first got my M14 I got a 1000 round box of the stuff. It is military brass and crimped and sealed primers and nato headstamped. Only good thing about it. While trying to sight in one box would give a 2" group and the next would give an 6" group. While prepping the cases for reloading the trim lengths were all over the place. I pulled 10 down and weighed each projectile and powder and the powder loads were all over the place. Projectiles were likewise up and down on weights.

The plus side of things is the brass really is excellent for reloading. I've some that's got 9 loadings on it with no signs of failure yet.

Winchester sent me a check for $15 when I informed them of the issue and they sent UPS to pick up the round. I probably won't buy any more of their ammo if it's priced comparably to Federal, but I'd recommend closely inspecting any of their rounds before putting it in a magazine.
I've found a couple of those in Winchester bulk packs of 9mm ammo from Wal-mart. My boxes were bought long before the panic of 2012 so I just chalked it up to cheap and fast ammo production.

Can you post a picture of this? Thanks!
