Is Cavim .308 ammo any good? Got 500 rounds really cheap. I haven't used any of it and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it? Can it be used in the M1A or is it bolt gun city for this stuff? Thanks.

Cavin, has nice brass, goes bang every time, and is relativly cheap, and is hot!
Now, having said that the stuff patterns like a shot gun, and due to the tar sealer it is very dirty and gums up the gas cylinder/piston rather quickly.
IMO, it is good for popping baloons, and other single use targets where you would practice cold bore shots.
This has been my experience, and YMMV

There's Cavim, and then there's Cavim. Some lots of Cavim were manufactured by Privi Partizan, sub-contracted by the Venezuelan Arsenal. Venezuelan Cavim tends to the tarry sealant. I believe that they thought that this formulation was better in jungle climates. It does cause uneven release, as evidenced by the uneven residue left on the cartridge. The stuff also seems to "cold creep", meaning that it migrates slowly under the effects of gravity.
