Berdan Primers

Guys, I have 4000 Berdan Primers for sale. I got them in a reloading deal and I am not going to be messing with Berdan primed ammo. Any suggestions on how I can get them shipped without ending up with three hots and a cot in the graybar hotel?GI3

UPS Ground HAZMAT. But, the combined shipping charge and HAZMAT fee will probably be more than the value of the primers.

Are they the standard NATO size? Or are they the larger Russian size? If they are the much larger Russian size I would be interested in communicating with you. Thanks

Standard LR primers

The primers are the PMC large rifle. It does say standard on them so I am not sure if they are the Russian or not......

Esrevnoc are you sure that these are actually Berdan Primers? If not send a pic showing the inside of the primer cup. I'm not sure that PMC produced Berdan Primers. Also mic the OD to see what size you actually have for those interested. dozier

Don't you have to have a Hazmat certification to ship hazmat materials?? UPS and Fed-Ex wont take it without your certificate.

Yes, you need a certificate. But you get your own, on line, for free, or maybe the guys at the UPS hub will help you. But, don't count on them and definitely don't expect any help from FedEx.

This is currently a topic on several forums and is being discussed to death.

Hazmat fee is $20 and weight of shipping 4k primers would be minimal, so yes it would be worthwhile to sell/ship them. It would be nice finding a buyer within driving distance, so this stuff could be eliminated. I don't know what the cost difference between Berdan and Boxer primers but I would imagine it's somewhere northward of $35 per 1k. dozier

I haven't actually figured it out but I thought HAZMAT was around $30 and a minimum Ground shipping charge is closer to $12. I collect cartridges and have to pay the minimum if I'm only shipping one cartridge and it's always been at least $10 to $15, depending on the distance and whether the destination is rural or urban and a residence vs a business.

Definitely Berdan

Dozier,
They are definitely Berdan Primers from PMC........I have the 4 1/2 boxes to prove it.......and the od that I just mic'ed was basically.215 for the dozen I checked......I will look in to the haz-mat thing with the 2 shippers........I know the USPS is out because I work for them!!!!!!

They are Large Rifle Berdan.......

I would only use UPS and pay the fee. Sell as a single lot. Value of primers nowadays is high so don't be afraid to build in the haz-ord charge. It would be easier on you to sell local - don't you have any local gun shows or way to advertise locally ?
