This is a discussion on Hsm .308 7.62??? within the Ammunition forums, part of the M14 M1A Forum category; HSM 155gr and 168gr amax at 20-22/box???
Anyone interested if I can get a buttload?...
If HSM is sombodies "Short Magnum" I don't think you're going to get any takers for the '14 rifle. I'd guess Hornady but not sure. good for a bolt hunting rifle but the short mags were loaded to the hilt.....probably not good for a gas gun.
Always goes bang in my rifle. This company is a split off from BVAC. My local ranch supply usually stocks it but I bought their last 15 boxes a week after Newtown ($15.49 ea) and they have not received any new shipments. Depending on the price I'd be interested.
HSM used to supply our state rifle team ammo back in the late 90s. Back them there were no 77s out yet, we shot the 69 SMK loaded HSM ammo in practice, short range and in the rattle battle at the tune of around 20K rounds per year.
Was all I shot when I first got my M1A (Read: it was the only affordable brass cased I could find). Never failed to bang in my rifle, even shot pretty well. Where are you finding it for that price? Its sad that I'm excited because that's about $7 more a box than I got it for a few months ago.
I would add ... do not confuse their 7.62 and .308 SMK 168 ammo. For 7.62, they specifically consider primers and use Winchester cases - made with gas actions in mind and floating FP. Good people. Also, they were making "range" ammo out of Hertenberger (new) brass and SMK 168. Ten bucks cheaper and good stuff, too.
