I just did inventory on my ammo stock for an upcoming trade i have for some trw parts and discovered 300 rounds of magtech ammo missing. I bought this ammo very shortly before sandy hook and know for a fact i havent shot it. I always put my ammo in my closet and nowhere else. I tore through my closet and entire living space 2-3 times and was very freaked out and puzzled that it was nowhere to be found. I hate to think that one of my buddies jacked it from me but thats the only thing i can think of as i dont believe in magic or little elfs who steal peoples ammo stashes. this has to be the strangest thing that has happened to me that i can remember. has anyone else had this sort of thing happen to them with ammo, parts or guns? Im 100% sane and have never had any head trauma other than having my bell rang a few times in little scraps so dimentia or memory loss is not a culprit here.

At today's prices, 300 rounds might be a temptation to anyone who has money problems. I had a Browning Citori grow legs and walk off many years ago with no signs of forced entry and no other guns missing. Cops said it sounded like a classic theft by 'friend'.

that kinda what im thinking. the only time I had a friend stay over since then was new years and he walked home while i was asleep so he wouldve been the only person who could have takin it. the only thing thats strange about that is he lives 1.5 miles away and thats the only ammo that was missing he also doesnt know crap about ammo or what its selling for. that would have been a pain in the ass to lug home on a freezing night but hes the only one who had access to it. this whole thing has me going crazy

I had some photos of an old girlfriend from her "modeling" days and hid them so well so the wife wouldn't find them I've yet after all these years remembered where they are!

Im not saying this is what happened.

But forgetting, or miscounting your ammo stash, is not a sign of brain disease, or trauma.

I have a pmag that i spent almost an hour stippling to perfection that is hiding somewhere.

it may turn up, it may not.

I have put cameras in my studio where musicians come in though after having two pairs of sunglasses, and a $2000 condenser mic stolen.

My stainless 357 SW 686 disappeared from my reloading room about a year ago. The brother in law was the only one in the house. But of course he's "family" and would "never do such a thing" according to my sister.

She figured the same thing right before he ditched her for a druggie in the next town over that he got pregnant while my sister was pregnant.

The gun was recovered in a drug bust right before I left for SHOT.

But I don't believe the PD at all, because "I must have just misplaced it somewhere".

I was lazy for a few years and leaving mags and ammo in the garage after going shooting, and the wife won't close the door if it's my day off. I had a few mags walk off but I put everything back inside since then, and especially since this panic. Had to be someone that was over, that's all that was missing.

I once searched for half an hour trying to find a radar detector that I eventually discovered was in my left hand the entire time. I found it because eventually I had to put it down to pick something else up and that is when I discovered it.

This other time I lost an entire 4-door Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Those experiences are too familiar for comfort. My wife says I can't find anything and I'm afraid she's right. My eyes see, but my brain doesn't seem to process.

At the cost of ammo these days, I'd get him over on the pretense of a cookout or sumsuch and waterboard him until he talks...

I FEEL your pain boomer! Over Christmas I found out that a 2000rd stash of german dag battlepacks, that I purchased 4 years ago left in my fathers workshop, was reduced to 2 sealed packs and about 300 loose in a can. My brother found it and took liberties with it over the past year(s). I live 1500 miles from my parents he lives 20. When I found out I lost it. After a family meeting he offered to restock but I have yet to see or hear of anything amd we did not talk about a time frame.
He even admitted that he knew it was my ammo. He said he thought that I forgot about it because I left it in dads shop!?!
I am going to call my brother tomorrow and give him some about this...and the 49ers.

I hope you find you stash boomer you might check your truck I thought I lost a bunch of 40sw once only to find it months later stashed in a bag in the back of my truck. It was a nice suprise.

We had a storage unit where a fellow had several thousand rounds of 9mm, .40, and .223 stolen! He ran a fireworks stand a few years ago and had some high school kids help him move the stock from the unit. Apparently one of them remembered the ammo being in there and decided to make a return visit! Other high end stuff was left alone, the ammo was the target of the crime. Are we creating a new black market?

Are you sure one of your "assault rifles" didn't take it upon itself to load them up and go on a shooting spree? You know those evil rifles are tricky little devils.

Sorry to hear that, Theft is one reason I don't show people where my stuff is locked up.

I once "lost" my model 37 .410. My dads shotgun he bought in the 50's. I kept in the back of the closet and went looking for it one day to go shoot, and damn if I couldn't find it. Went thru the entire house. Stopped looking cause it was making me crazy. 2 years later while digging for something else, there she was, covered in dust and lint right where I had always kept it...

About 15 years ago I "lost" a big box of 8mm home movies of my kids growing up. It should be right by the screen and projector like it always was. I know that one day when I am not looking for it, the box is going to be right where I left it....ICONSMILE

I lost had about 200rnd of .45 that disappeared 4 months ago. I only had about 100rnds left in the gun room and couldn't remember shooting the other 200. Ended up finding it in my wife's backpack in her car. Apparently she intended on going to the range, got called in to work, and forgot about it.

I also completely forgot I had a Lee Anniversary kit at my mother's for about 5yrs. I bought it after high school, never got it set up, and forgot about it When I shipped off to basic my mom moved.

Fast forward to a couple years down the road and I found it when I was home on PCS leave while looking for some motorcycle parts.

I suck at finding anything usually. I always ask my wife and piss her off.

On a lighter note, I lost my youth once, think I was 19 and in the Tonkin. Figured it was gone forever, but I was lucky enough to find it again a few years after I'd discharged out. Haven't lost it since...USN3USNA

Keep on truck'n boomer, you'd just shot it all up anyway lol!!!

I try to lock everything up and keep it out of sight. I collect way too much stuff. My biggest horror is if I STB and get to see the wife having a huge yard sale and watching her sell the stuff for pennies on the dollar. I would come back and haunt her.

This usually happens to me when I'm cleaning and reorganizing the garage or man cave while enjoying a few cold ones. What seems like a completely logical place to neatly store something at the time, sometimes causes great consternation down the road when said item "disappears" SGRIN

I had a brand new 32oz. bottle of Hoppe's disappear on me a few years ago. My step-brother was out so I filled a small bottle I had and gave that to him, somehow he filched the big one too. He's basically a hustler so if he can get something for nothing he will, no matter who he steals it from. No morals, no conscience and most of the time, no job.
