Just found some CBC ammo made in Brazil. 7.62x51 NATO. Just looking for info or insight to this ammo. Good / bad ??? Ball M80. $60 for box of 50. What sucks is its the only 308 I can find locally.

When I purchased my long dreamed of NM loaded about a month or so ago, I went to a gun show and that was the only ammo I could find at the time. The ammo performed flawlessly for me and the groups were quite acceptable. At that time the same quantity cost me $44.00. Sorry to see the panickers and scavengers are taking advantage of everyone now. But no matter how one looks at it, you need ammo, particularly in this day and time. That is better than no ammo at all!

That's good to know! I bought a few boxes for plinking and a quick zero session.
I figure its better than using high $ ballistic tips ( 20 rds for over $35 ).
And yes you are right , some is better than none ! FRG1

That seems the only thing in the supply lines right now. It was being sold for .69 a round online at several places. Consensus is the 2012 manufacture (which is what is out there) is good to go and should not suffer from the rep of the stuff they made 20 years ago that had a recall.

Research, still the best game in town anymore...

Just use the search tab above and type in CBC and you will get your answer Dozermonkey. Just like this <9 seconds.

Real Steel you need real match grade military surplus ammunition or some great commercail ammunition to let her do her thing for you. DI5

I got those 50rd boxes of CBC M80 for $30.00 locally at Sportsman's Warehouse. Still have some, those guys who camp out waiting for the trucks scoop up all the ammo now though. It shoots very well for its cost, and the virgin brass is nice for reloading.

Yup. Instead of bread lines, we have ammo lines. Not quite like the USSR yet.

Sob Story....

My local gun shop had cases of the CBC 7.62x51mm. I bought a couple boxes to try out. I liked it and went back to buy a large amount.

They were all gone but 4 boxes.

I may have to buy in bulk to get more.

BTW, I went through 100 rounds of the CBC M80 Ball on Saturday last and it fed
pretty well. The ammo burned pretty clean too.

I bought some at the PX about 2 weeks ago for $36 per 50.
Hornady 110gr TAP was $33 if I remember correctly. All they had.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

I was in a pinch for ammo, and this was the only reasonably priced, brass-cased 7.62 NATO at Cabelas, so I scooped up 200 rounds at $42/box of 50. Not the best price ever but for a panic I'll eat the crow at under a dollar a round.

Shot about 40 rounds of it last trip and it fed, fired, and ejected fine. Seemed like pretty consistent loads too, all my brass wound up in a pile all within a foot or two of eachother. I'm no ammo aficionado, so I can't really say if it's good ammo. It's kind of like I've been drinking storebrand instant coffe my whole life, so when I get good Columbian I can't really tell the difference. By all accounts though, the ammo seems good to go.

I too had problems with it acting up in my New Scout, w/Head-Space of 1.632"....However, I've since acquired a Standard from the early 90's and it eats it like candy....Who'd a thunk it....GI3 BTW, I'm not certain of the Head-Space on the Standard, It's a SAI with an H&R barrel...

CBC M80 Ball Ammo 7.62

I recently bought this ammo and had a horrible time with it at the range today. Out of one box of 50 I don't believe I had a dozen rounds feed and eject correctly. I can't explain feed issues. but the extraction problem seems to be related to the brass being exceptionally soft and hanging in the chamber. Extractor claw appeared to have ripped through the cartridge lip in the hangs.

Full disclosure, I'd just ran about 80 rounds prior. Most was Lake City 147gr with a box of Winchester also 147gr. I'd not had any problems with any of the previous rounds but I had to leave before verifying that the Armalite AR-10 had not developed some problem not associated with the CBC rounds. $0.82 per.

Next time I'll try to open with these rounds and follow up with others to see if this is really an ammo problem or just a dirty gun issue.

Have used CBC/Magtech/Brazilian in Springfield M1A and DPMS-LR308. No problems. LR 308 seemed to really like it- at 200 yds 200-19x.
Reloads fine, and lasts like LC. Am keeping some in a wooden box next to the Australian, IMI, and Portuguese 308/7.62x51.

CBC Worked well enough for me last week at the range. I bought 2x50 round boxes at $44.50 a box. Ammo worked just fine, burned well, accurate enough and rifle wasn't too dirty after 80 rounds down range. It came in the gold'ish box.

Good stuff.
