Import Ammo Ban??

Gents,

I am hearing rumblings of an importation ban on so called "assult weapons ammo" (5.56, 7.62 x 39, etc..) and was wondering if there is any truth to the rumor?

By the way, I know it is a dirty and of poor quailty. However, it just fine for spraying catus with the selector on "rock-n-roll"

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

Later,

i looked around... its likely just more hysteria.

we buy up alot of surplus military stuff from our allies abroad... we can't just ban that its a bad political move.

Thanks from 82nd ABN

Ehh! In 5.56 i could care less, the russian burns filthy and leaves black crud all through the gun that makes a hell of mess during cleaning.

The Sellier &Belloit 5.56 doesn't feed or extract right in my guns.

As such i stick with my Handloads, XM-193, M-855 anyway.

I look for the liberals who are in dipshit land to go after cosmetic features and magazines again, those drive by "Muzzle Flashings", "Bayonetings", "Pistol grippings" have killed more people than cholera, plague and HIV combined!!!! And those momentary magazine changes between ten rounders will save so000000 many lives!!!

Thanks from 82nd ABN

Totally agree that Russian ammo is filthy, but with a full-auto you've got to clean the heck out the weapon regardless. I like the thought of $3 a magazine instead of $8.

Thanks again for your feedback.

There's talk on making Semi's Title II firearms as well. Requiring all of them to have that nice shiny $200 tax stamp. Lots of crazy rumors are going around right now.

No matter what the political climate is, the time to stock more ammo, has always been now.

I just picked up 80 rounds of TAP FPD for free. That will go nicely for my truck gun.

Is shiny ammo still legal or is it too scary?

Certain groups are offended by shiny ammo, they see any kind of polishing as evil, don't even get them started on automatic case tumblers.

In deep South Texas, I haven't seen PPU only Tula or Wolf. I have heard very good things about PPU, but no experience.

Today @ Academy, I bought 500 rounds (5.56) of Tula in a sealed $149.99. As we have all stated it is good for training/practice, but little else.

I originally took the information regarding the ban with a large grain of salt, and will continue to seek the opinion of subject matter experts.

Thanks again for everyones sage advice.

So commie (China) or recovering commie (E Europe) ammo is good enough to put on the U.S. taxpayer's tab to supply "security" forces in Iraq and Afghanistan but not good enough for American shooters to buy at their own expense? Gimme a break. The idea's stupid - totalitarian. It won't happen.

There is very little true 'surplus' 7.62 NATO in the pipeline now, and I don't expect that to change any time soon. So any 'ban' would be pretty much moot, wouldn't you say?

I don't know if the executive branch has the authority to 'ban' ammo imports, but I suppose that the import permits could always be delayed by the bureaucrats.

As to semi's becoming Title II weapons, that could only be done in the Congress, and I think it highly unlikely that a Republican HOR would go for that. If the Democrats controlled the House, then maybe. But as of now, no, I seriously doubt it.
