Me? I just want someone to sell me a couple of the empty drums at a reasonable price. I have a couple ALICE SAW pouches these go in. | I'm probably going to pick up one or two drums this weekend if they still have it, if not a can. You can have the empty drums for the cost of mailing them. I have no need for them. I'll let you know if I'm able to pick up any.

For peacetime they're fairly pointless, but for a SHTF box of magazines, they're worth having.

But I load my m14 mags four to one like a machine gun belt making sure the last one is a tracer. Tracers are useful things. If need be in the dark you can walk the fire onto the target with them.
I know we had an officer in the Stan on here that was using mags full of tracers in a non scoped M14 to tell his guys where to shoot.

These SAW drums are the old drums, new SAW ammo comes in "soft drums"(Camo baggies) now I think

So you can ether use these hard drums they come in, or put it in the baggie. Got it.
I know the molle setup for the SAW gunner (at least as the official army literature has it, we know you guys change stuff up in the field) has two 100 round pouches and two 200 round pouches. So I am guessing the baggies hold 100 for the SAW and go in the 100 round pouch, and the drums go in the 200 round pouches
From the army property site.
The "SAW Gunner Configuration" shown above includes a Fighting Load Carrier (FLC) Vest, 8465-01-525-0577, and 2ea 1-quart canteen / utility pouches, 8465-01-525-0585.
The FLC vest and canteen pouches are not included with the "Base" SAW Gunner set, which consists of two 200rd and two 100rd SAW pouches, for a total capacity of 600rd 5.56mm linked ammunition.
The old ALICE config was two of the green pouches for the drums.
I know the M240 has a 300 round bag that is carried separately too.

Was thinking two but scratched my head on what I would be doing with it besides adding to the pile, so stuck with the one.
Rakin | Taking the tracers out its $.43 a round. That's an about average price for decent brass cased new production 5.56 plinking ammo.

L | Thats what I thought as well. Only plus is supporting CMP and minor resale of plastic mag & links. Thats ok, I cant shoot tracer on our range anyway.
