| Brass ident.
I bought some once fired brass , 7.62x51, PMJ 06
with the NATO mark.
I looked on the ident. list and this is not there.
Does anyone know where this was made?

I believe that PMJ stands for the Poongsan Metal Company (PMC) of Korea. I don't know for sure yet what the J stands for. It might designate the specific manufacturing ammunition plant. PMC has a contract to produce the ammunition for the U.S. Military, because Lake City ammunitions plant couldn't keep up with the war effort . XXIV Corps DMZ 70-72 |

F 78 39 (NATO STAMP) in quadrants, Berdan primed, Ball powder 45.5 grains, 145.7 grain FMJ boat tail bullet with no apparent sealer.
CAVIM 83 (at 6 and 12) Boxer primed, extremely short grain extruded powder 47.0 grains, 143.6 grain FMJ boat tail with faint traces of sealer.
Both proved to be non corrosive. HTH, dave

| German Ammunition question
I picked have several boxes of this ammunition. I found a description listed on the headstamp website in this sticky but I was wondering if anyone might have some additional insight
The headstamp; MEN - 76 - 23 - (NATO headstamp)
Per Website - Metallwerk Elisenhütte G.m.b.H., Nassau, Lahn, Germany
The descritpion on the box says 7,62 mm 51, DM 41,
WEICHKERN
LOS MEN - 76 - 23
What I am curious about is the 23...I am assuming that 76 is the year. Also DM 41?...
One last thing, is there a good way to tell whether or not the Ammo has been reloaded?
Doug,

Doug, | Afternoon Pershing,
It's all here ........ 20 Partronen = 20 Cartridges 7.62mmx51, DM 41 Weichkern = 'DM 41 Weichkern is the West German battle cartridge for the H&K G3. "Weichkern" means "soft core". LOS MEN 76-23 = Lot MEN 1976 - 23 week I hope that this helps you out Doug., or you could look here to see the headstamps or how it did in the rifle range in my NM M1A. |
