About 10 years ago there was a recall on CBC, I got a letter on the subject since I had bought 1000K. I don't recall if it was 70's or 80's surplus, but I had one box of 20 left that I returned. The recall was due to several incidents where rifles were blown, as I recall.

We fired a 50 round box of this stuff Sunday. 2012 production(at least it appeared that way from the stamps we saw) with the NATO cross on the rounds we had. Shoots to the same POI for practical purposes as the MEN and SA we had with the added benefit of being clean shooting compared to the SA(but what isn't!). This was informal shooting with no attempt at pure accuracy but it looked good with no malfunctions of any sort. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot it or buy it in bulk lots if I could get a good price. We also shot another box which was obviousle older CBC(still a 50 rounder) and it seemed to shoot just as well. None of the stuff was the old, old, OLD ammo you hear about occasionally. It too worked great in the rifles and on the targets.

I'd shop around: Privi is available at some vendors(or was a few days ago) at around $550/K BUT as to the original question this NEW CBC is good stuff.

I havn't fired any ammo but I reloaded some of the brass which was very nice. I may be wrong, but I think it is part of the "second source" program supply ammo to the us military. The cbc brass I got was mixed in with some LC once fired 308 bulk brass.

Bought 10K rounds from Century Ams back in the day. SHTF when it was discovered that the ammo, one or two rds in a 1K case had been found to have been loaded with HE. I returned all 10 cases on Century's dime, shipping included. What a PIA hauling the ammo to UPS for shipping back to them. What a way to sabotage an entire lot of ammo. SGN and others publisized the re-call. I was going to run it through my 1919A4. The Brownings are built like a brick house but it would have been exciting to say the least!
