Summit ammo

Anybody use this stuff? Is it remanutactured? The guy at the gun shop said its made to NATO stamp. The brass looks new but is mixed LC headstamps and the shop owner seems clueless.

I believe most if not all of it is remanufactured. I have heard mixed reviews on it.

Ok. Thanks for commenting. I would really like to get some first hand opinion. Also is the Portuguese battle packs any good? I heard some have corrosion issues. How much should they go for in a gun store?

Depends on what the dealer has in it. FNM is sure-fire, utility, Berdan. Offer 40 cents a round cash and see what happens.

With mixed headstamps, I would guess that it is remanufactured ammo. With that said how can the gunshop guy have any idea it is to NATO specs? Also the Port. ammo that was available years ago have been given high marks. Heard of some recently that has a lot of corrosion. If this is available through the same gunshop, ask if you can pick out one BP and open it for inspection. Without opening it, you could be buying yourself some problems. dozier

This particular shop had the summit in bags of 40. I asked him some simple questions. His son overheard and was the one who told me they were manufactured by summit. The mixed headstamps shot a red flag to me to ask. This guy was a tool.
The other shop I went to had them in bulk 200rd ammo cans. He told me they were made to NATO spec and manufactured using LC brass. What I cannot for the life of me understand is why they would have different year headstamps if they weren't once rolled? These shops in Long Island treat you like a bum.
As far as the Port ammo battle packs, thanks for the heads up. I think he wanted $135 for it.
On a brighter note, I'm visiting LRB today

It's not only Long Island. Some gunshops will tell you anything to make a sale. Just like the ammo in a plastic bag. Could be made by a guy down the block. If it came in a box with Summit on it, I might find his story more believable. I'm not sure of the going price for Port., but at 0.70 cents a round, it better not be corroded. Good luck on your quest Tommy. dozier
