Freedom Munitions first impressions(308 & 223)

I ordered a some of this ammo since time/space is not available right now for reloading. Ended up getting 168gr A-Max 308 and 55gr V-Max 223 re-manufactured.

Nice packaging for the 308.

4 little boxes with 5 rounds in each.

Went through and checked EVERY single round....not by choice because of this

It was nothing a toothbrush wouldn't take off and gave me time to see what kind of brass was used.

Ended up with the following numbers(all LC brass):
1 - 88
3 - 05
7 - 07
7 - 08 LR
22 - 09
80 - 08 (pictured below)

Here is the worst condition piece I could find besides the regular minor dents.

My thoughts on the 308.... looks good minus the gunk around the neck which wasn't that hard to removed but set off my OCD and curiosity. Will have a range report in the near future.

The 223 was packed in 50rd boxes.

Very pretty and ready to go out of the box.

Brass was a mix of FC, Winchester, Speer, and LC.

I came up with the following numbers from 1 box.
1 - FC 06
1 - FC 223 REM
5 - Winchester 223 REM
Speer
1 - 09
9 - 08
5 - 07
LC
1 - 06
2 -05
12 - 08
13 - 07

Thanks from anagram-sam

That is most bizarre, I have been de capping and cleaning primer pockets on some LC LR with a date of 05 and some of the rounds had the same black stuff on them. Almost like chewing gum. Thought it might have been tree sap but I have no idea what it is. How much did it come to a round for the stuff???? Looks pretty good.
Disregard, I did not see the links. A buddy just picked up 1500 rounds of privy 168 gr bthp match for 1100 and change. Pretty sure it was 14.59 a box over ten boxes. If you are interested I will find out where he got it. I don't know how the amax compares to the bthp.

Found the link if your still looking for some more or anyone else for that matter. Again, its not the Amax ammo.

Wow!
With all those mixed cartridge case head stamps I'll be waiting to see how this stuff groups too.
If I were you I would try sorting the ammo out by head stamp and seeing if the groups shift as you switch from headstamp to headstamp (if you expect accuracy; if it's just plinking ammo then probably not.....).

Finally got to shoot it today with great results. Just popped off enough to confirm zero at 50yds, but VERY accurate in all 3 rifles(in my profile pictures). Every single shot landed touching or on top of each other(in the scoped rifles). Should easily be MOA at 100yds. Didn't see any significant changes in POI with different cases since I was taking friends out to shoot and didn't have time to really evaluate. Feels almost as accurate as my old Remington 700.

This is the only ammo I've tried that works well in all 3 of them. My rifles seem to like it more than that overpriced HSM ammo for 1/3 the price. No problems came up whatsoever and performed flawlessly. Will be ordering more ASAP.

Thanks from LausDeo

Thanks for the information and report! I've got 500 rounds of the .308 headed my way. Once it comes in and I get a chance to head to the range I'll let y'all know how it does out of a Scout.

I haven't tried any of the .308 yet, but I've shot quite a bit of the 5.56 ss109 and .45acp in 230 gr. all new manufacture. It's all functioned flawlessly so far and I don't have any complaints. The factory where it's made is about 30 miles from my house and I know they previously sold ammo under the name USA Ammo until the business partnership ended and they relaunched as Freedom Munitions.

Freedom Munitions

Have just learned of these guys down in Houston. Any recent purchases by members? Any recent range reports? Will make a road trip down there for the holidays.

I shot some out to 300 yards on a steal target and was happy. I wish i could have put it on paper. I am in the same boat as you.
