I received this X14 Skeleton Mag a few days ago. It looks solidly built and you can tell that they pay attention to every little detail. It's also looks very unique. I really like how the inside of the mag is painted blood red. I'm very glad I got one of this collectible mags, especially since they're going to make only about twenty-five of them. Just like the popular Air Jordans and since it's a collectible, it should be only used one in a while when it's nice outside and make sure you put it back in the box right after it's used. This works for me perfectly since I just go to the shooting range with my fellas. I'm not into shooting matches, or CQB stuff like that. I haven't gotten a chance to try it at the shooting range yet, but if it's like my regular X14, it should work just as well. What's better than shooting fifty rounds at a time without needing to change mags, instead of the usual twenty or thirty? For those who play golf like me, I compare it to a Scotty Cameron putter.
Our guys found out in ww1 what happens when you open a mag like that, YOU DIE!! Look up french chauchat.
It is ok for a sidewalk commando but not much else.
Hopefully they will put in a clear plastic sheilding to protect the mag and ammo.
If Your 'Battle Rifle' Runs Out Of Batteries...You Could Die Too!
Clearly this was not intended as a Mag for 'CQB'...
Anymore than PINK AR-15's Are!
More in common with....Chrome 'BBQ' Pistols!
These kind of mags would be fun for rattle battle at Camp Perry but I think you have to use a 20 round mag per rules. Too bad, I'd like to see how many hits I could get at 600 yards with a drum mag (like this) with my M14.
That thing looks awsome but i would buy one with the solid out side rather than that. It alows alot of crap to enter the drum and will gum up the works.
I don't foresee myself rolling around in the mud soon, but if I have to, il just put duct tape over the lightening holes, "improvise and adapt." The last time I had to drag a rifle, an m16a1, was going thru jungle expert training at the JTC in Panama. Missed out on a good day to shoot yesterday, because of a football game.
The slotted XM magazine was only produced as a prototype. The production model will have closed sides to eliminate any possiblilty of dirt clogging it up. These were displayed at the SHOT Show and one was displayed at the LRB booth. Overall quality seemed to be pretty good, but there were some issues with it's fit in the rifle it was displayed on.
At 5 pounds loaded I'm not sure the advantage of having 50 rounds is worth it.
Mrs. Different says the skeletized X-14 drum magazine would look better with purple plastic bullet guides instead of the red ones. I don't argue with her.
That's a good looking set up! Did you notice the significantly smaller handwheel on the front. WE were able to bring it in almost half an inch! It really cleans up the aesthetics of the magazine.
had a chance to do some range time last week. it function jus like my other x14. The poor didnt have any problem spittin out 50 rds. Theres nothing better to take out the range, and thats what it is exactly for, RANGE. Anyway, here are some of my collection(assault clips that is). Anybody else collect so called assault clips? I would like to see yours.
