Proper powder for M14 gas system

I know this has been beaten to death before but I'm new here so bear with me please. Is the powder burn rate for the M14 the same or similar for proper and safe function as the Garand? My experience is with the M1 and so I will hazard the guess that my powder of choice for it is H4895 would be proper for the M14 as well? Thanks for your patience.

Dozier, your handle sounds familiar we may hang out at other forums? Culvers? Surplus rifle? Milsurp? Thanks

Gun powder works best. I use IMR 4064 or AA 2520.

Thanks from echokilo60

IMR 4895 is my go-to for the M1 and M14 type.

Any of the 4895 flavors works best in the M-1A.

IMR-4895, H-4895, 4064, R-15 and IMR-3031. That will handle most shooter's needs for the M14.

Thanks from m14nm

I had great results with Varget, although some say it is not the ideal. It shoots better than IMR 4895 in my rifle.

Has anyone mentioned IMR-4895 yet?

Good stuff for both Garnds and M-14's. I've been using it for decades with complete satisfaction. :)

I like IMR-4895 for the M1A. I also use it for very accurate loads shot through my Remington 700 VLS.
