Altus AFB late 50's or early 60's

I was a kid growing up in Altus, Okla., at the time. Lots of my neighborhood buddies parents were AF. I remember Altus was a SAC base with B-52's and KC135's and I think maybe a few B-47's. I can still remember one night being nearly shook out of bed by an explosion and a bright flash of light. The next morning we learned that a B52 had crashed just north of Altus. Anyone out there with any info on this? I have wondered about it since I was a kid. I still remember me and my running buddies talking about it, we all thought of the crew as heroes. Best I can recall the pilot was the only one whom survived.

This one?

"10th December 1958, Routine night training mission. Crashed at Altus AFB, Ok. Improper use of stabiliser trim during overshoot."

Pilot ejected and lived, 8 others didn't.

Here's more info...

Altus AFB

Hey, wanna thank you for the link. Went to it and spent sometime there. I was amazed at the number of B52 crashes in the late 50's and into the 60's.
