Just wondering if any of you have gone back to Lackland for a visit?

A few years ago I went back there for my son graduation. I was a Master Sgt at the time and had my blues on and man it was a blast. The parade was canceled due to weather so they had the graduation back at the dorms. I have very dark tinted windows on my truck and pulled up to a young airman (still wearing BDU) rolled down the window and the poor kid saw all those stripes on my arm. He couldn't make a full sentence to save his life. Come to find out that I and the 1st Sargent were the highest ranking enlisted they have seen and if they saw the 1st Sargent they had a bunch of trouble. We won't go into the family friend that showed up that was a O-6 in the Navy at the time.

Went back when my son graduated about 15 years ago. I was there in '68-'69 winter. I couldn't find my old dorm though. The dorms seem so much smaller inside now. Maybe his was a later one and they downsized?

I had a full colonel in uniform with me, so I even had the NCOs hopping. We stayed in the VOQ at Randolph AFB. That is one really nice base! The architecture is Art Deco from the 30's and really cool. I understand from Frank, my colonel friend, it is one of four or five primo bases the AF has. Langley is another, but I have never been there.
