Rooskie flew in our Bird?

Help me out, men. The Rooskies have just test flown their PAK FA, which they say is very much like our F-22.

They quote their Gen. Kornukov as saying: "...I've been in an F-22 and I know."

Question: How the heck can a Rooskie Gen. get a free ride in one of our birds?

Ain't this the same Kornukov who gave the order to fire the air to air missle which downed KAL 007 in '83? (KAL 007 had 20 sec. remaining before it was back over international waters)

17:53 GMT - First documented order for shootdown. General Anatoli Kornukov, Commander of Sokol Air base on Sakhalin to the command post of General Valeri Kamenski, Commander of Air Defense Forces for the Far East Military District, “…simply destroy [it] even if it is over neutral waters? Are the orders to destroy it over neutral waters? Oh, well.” (ICAO "93, Information Paper No.1, 101)

Question

I caught that comment too. Do we have 2-seater F-22 trainer versions, which he might have rode in? Surely we wouldn't let him fly our most sophisticated aircraft solo? TD

Yeah! good point, TD!

Then it should be "bi-partisan" and have one of our flyboys with scrambled eggs on his helmet fly this brand-new Rooskie bird, no?

Turn-about-is-fair-play!

No F-22 two-seaters as far as I know. Too pricey.

Even General Jumper (USAF Chief of Staff) had to go through the F-22 course so he could get a ride in one (with a very nervous IP flying on his wing I'll bet).

Why a 4 star needed to get an F-22 ride is a waste of money to say the least. RHIP I guess.

The Russian General may have sat in one is my best guess. But unless his Blackberryski could download the software while he was near the jet, I think he blowing smoke up any prospective buyer's collective posteriors...

Here is the link to an article in Air Force Magazine on the Raptorski, as it is called in the West. It may not be as stealthy as they suggest. The engines seem to be old technology with round nozzles. But that could change in the production model. This one may be to work out airframe issues while the engines are under development. As the article states, we would be stupid to ignore its potential. It is still in development and a long ways from a final airframe ready for production.

Evidently, it is more like an F-35 in combat roles than an F-22. It seems like the F-35 in that it is multifunctional but with more F-22 capabilities than the F-35 has.

I was disappointed they didn't address the Russian general's claim to have been in the F-22. What? He was allowed to sit in one?

Maybe the Edwards guys have some answers.

Here's a link to the Edwards AFB Airshow last Nov.

I especially like the bomber flyover.
