USAF 1972-76

Precision Measuring Equipment Laboratory (PMEL), served at Kirtland, Korat Thailand and mustered out in Dyess, Abilene TX. I might have been a lifer but when we closed out Korat I had orders for Clark in the PI and they were changed to Dyess the day I was to get on the plane. After 10 months in west Texas I chose the GI bill.

My Dad did 30 years, P-38 mechanic in WWII and finished his last 10 years as crew chief and loadmaster in Air Rescue on C130's.

R.A.F. Alconbury

Went to tech school at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL for just under a year ('84-'85), studying electronics (weather equipment specialist). Then went to Royal Air Force Base Alconbury, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, '85-'88. I and my buds formed a rock band and played the airman's club often.

I always seemed to be getting in trouble for something.

I was a bit rebellious back then!

I was in the Navy, but my dad was in the USAF for 33 yrs.

He mostly flew 105's. He did 100 missions over NVnam in '67 (out of Korat) then 69 more as a Wild Weasel in 1972 (again out of Korat). He had a total of 240 missions counting non-counters over Laos and Cambodia. He was a real stud (2 Silver Stars, 7 DFC's ,and a bag full of Air medals)

I miss him.
