OLD DUDES?

Tech school at kessler in 71-72. USAF taught me electronic warfare systems. Worked SR-71's, B-52's, but liked F-4's the best. Out in '79.

Someone had to keep the world safe while you youngin's were being breast-fed by your mommy.

Thanks from SGV

Came in to be a 1W0X2 Air Force Special Operations Weather Technician but ended up going due to a shortage of slots at the time (or so they told me in basic) so I became a 3P0X1 Security Forces. Testing for SSgt next test cycle and PCSing from Eielson AFB to the 736th Contingency Response Group at Andersen AFB.

My Grandfather was originally a Navy mechanic on Eagle class patrol boats in the begining of WWII. After his enlistment he went to the US Army Air Corp as a B29 crew chief. During the Cold War he was switched to B-52's. He retired as a SMSgt and staying as a civilian tech school instructor at Chanute AFB until the 80's. Actually, both my Grandpa and Grandmother were instructors out there.

My dad was drafted after High School in '69 and became a Pararescueman in Vietnam. He retated over to "straight leg" Medic sometime after Vietnam and stayed in the Airforce until 99' retiring as a CMSgt.

Needless to say when my dad got wind I was trying to go into the Marines as a 2111 Small Arms Repairer/Technician he went Chief on me and my recruiter then had me join the "Family Business"...haha

Don't regret it for a second...

Was a 431 then it swapped to a 2A5 (B-1's)...did that for 13 years, had to medical cross train into 4A0...got a "v" code which is equivalent to Comm. Did that for the last 7 years of my career, living nice and comfortable off of the experience from the last 7 years with the Comm experience. The retirement benefits help feed this addiction!

Wow reading through this shows just how much and often the AFSC's change. Currently I am a 2A573C, Integrated Avionics Heavies, Electronic Warfare. But that is supposed to changed to some 2A6 BS AFSC soon since they want to merge my job on the AWACS in to something called Mission Systems. But that don't bother me because I am retraining into 1U0X1, Sensor Operator.

I would just like to thank all of you for your service also.
