Springfield gov scope 6x40 fixed

So, just picked this scope up for 100 bucks it's brand new but a old model. I'm hoping someone has played around with it and can share a load to match it?
I have Varget, 4064, 4895.
And 168 SMK with about 250 pulled then Neck sized LC brass with crimped primers. It's for a SPringfield National Match M1A.

If I press the once fired brass I will be using a reddings competition 308 die trimming to 2.01 inches and CCI BR primers.

Lightbulb

This is the one I have used (4-14x56) for over a decade and have never let me down out to 1000 yards. Works well with all weights of military surplus ammunition.

Hard to see, but, looks like it has aiming points out to 700 yards(?). And also looks like it has a built in level(?).

You'll need to do a little research to find what those aiming points are calibrated for, i.e. a .308 caliber, and say a 168 SMK doing 2600 FPS. Being it's a Springfield Inc scope and probably for an M1A that would be my guess...About 41-42 grains of IMR4895 will get you in the ballpark.

I believe the original instructions for these scopes say that they are calibrated for the 175 smk, as used in the Federal GMM. Ballistics out to 700 would be near identical for the 168 GMM.

its for 168 match per the instructions. And yes zero at 100 and it's marked to 7. I will do some load development.
Looking for if they mean 168 match 2700fps or 2600 fps I guess I will shoot for 2650 and see where it ends up. If you know what ammo they mean can you point it out to me please.

Going off memory, I believe it was 2600fps.

I would not want to exceed 2600 FPS with the M1A and that bullet. My current loading is for a 168 SMK, 41.5 grains of IMR4895, and a military case...2550 FPS AVG.

I run it in both an M1A & 308 Garand, nice & not too hot for a military autoloader.

Just as a point of reference, I rolled a bunch of 168 Hornady BTHP in LC cases with 40.5gr IMR4895 for a bolt gun that loves it. Same rounds failed to cycle in my M14-clone.

42grains of 4895 or 43 of Varget/4064 should get you what you want. If you find that it's a bit slow then zero say 1" high at 100 and you will be on at 400-500 etc. BDC reticules and dials aren't an exact science.

Up date, scope works good on 100-200 so fare I worked up a load of 4895 42.3 grains and it's pushing 168 SMK at 2700 with LC pulled brass neck sized and trimmed to 2.1 packed just short of mag length. I can see they are much hotter than my 4064 at 41.5. As the shell cases now drop in a new pile.
Another question, what primers are used in the LC pulled brass off midway?
I have been shooting consistent sub MOA groups with this stuff.
FYI i found I was oversizing the LC brass so I picked up some Reddings competition shell holders and it is extending brass life by not over sizing. Maybe something to look at if you have not yet. She eats them about .05 over SAMI max.

Just MHO that's a tad hot at 2700 FPS, or at least for me & mine. Pressure signs?

Just a ever so slight flattening of the primer but the over all cycle of her feals really good. shooting GMM 168 kicked harder than these did and showed more sign. I was surprised at the speed as well. I was using a buddies magneto first time ever maybe since it is right off the barrel that's why it is so hot? Maybe in 10 feet with my RCBS it would drop 50 Feet? ?
