Range report

Took my M1A loaded to the range after shimming the gas cylinder and filing the stock ferrule. I was shooting at 100 yds off sand bags. Tha 8 shot group was single load taking the rifle down from my shoulder each time. The shot at 3o'clock was the first, and the one at 11o'clock the last. The other 6 looked like 2 , 3 shot groups. The other target was 5rounds loaded in the mag, and firing as soon as I could acquire sight picture. It looked like a smaller group keeping in my shoulder?

Many of us do better when shooting with a rhythm. One reason why service rifle competitions have single loading phases. It breaks your concentration.

Helps keep your natural point of aim, if that is where you started. Taking the rifle down each time means you have to find it again each time.

Looks like it works for you! Keep at it. Great shooting. Thanks for the report.

ptaleo Great shooting!

My eyes are old and failing so I tend to shoot my best groups as soon as the sight picture is there I squeeze it off... I try to keep it shouldered and on the rest to call my shots.
I shoot five out of a 10 round mag.

Thanks from ptaleo

Is the elevation difference from not having a consistant cheek weld or not concentrating on the front blade, or both?

Both, mostly mental concentration for me anyway.

Thanks from ptaleo
