Very nice shooting with the M1A platform. Can't help but wonder why the Army doesn't issue these across the board.

Bobwire,

DO let us know! I put a Sadlak grooved piston in mine and had 'short strokes' and bumped up the load .5 gr.

Been considering putting my old scarred up original back in as well...

I'll let you know should be able to get out next week. Ididn't think about the piston until KurtC said something about it. Jeff did the .5 grain increase take your short away?

Yes Bobwire,
But from looking at my old load and group data not sure if it helped accuracy with the Sadlack grooved gas piston... Trust KurtC Bobwire.

I should have left it alone!

Talking Gas Piston needs a look see

I have used the 41.5 gr. 4895 and 168 SMK with excellent results in a couple of my M14s with USGI Chromelined barrels.

As far as the short stroking goes the other two rifles work great with the Sadlak TiN pistons, the 2002 SAI with all GI parts shoots way better with the GI piston.
Whoda thunk it !

I'd try a cleanout of the gas plug and use a CLEAN GI piston and make sure the cylinder is clean and dry.

By the way the groups you are getting are very good, tooting your own horn good ! As Will Sonnett use to say " No brag, just fact" !
