M1A: REDUX...

Just got the rifle back from the gunsmith.
Had all the "accuracy" mods made to it, bedded, Krieger barrel unitized, trigger work,etc...

Shot it yesterday with some factory and my reloads, 168gr and I-4895 @41.5

Put PA 4-14 scope on it.

Now were talking better accuracy...

Nicely done. How are you liking the Primary Arms optic? Can you compare it to anything? I am thinking of trying some PA optics. Good price and good reviews. Ive been eyeballing them for about a year now.

Nice! Any idea or guess as to what mod produced the biggest improvement?

I've got 2 Bushnell's 4.5-30's that were ~$1000 with very nice glass and a Vortex Crossfire 6-24 thats also pretty impresive for the price and the PA is just as clear.
Solid feeling controls and the Illuminated reticle is a cool feature.
Thinking of putting a PA on my .223 varmint AR...

At this point i'm going with the trigger, so much improved.

I shot 140 rnds, after irons then the scope sight in I settled in for serious groups. Trigger breaks cleanly and once reset was engaged after a second I found getting on target was easier, sight, trigger management, etc till next shot.

Also observed: Almost no groups with errant fliers, beats me, maybe because of bedding and proper hand guard clearance, stock to ferrule fitting?

Ill let the experts decide

Another thought,

I'd wish now I either bought a M1A from a company specializing in this rifle or bought a standard SAI and then had it worked on, saved the extra $ for a Loaded to put to a good smith...

How much did all of that work cost you? Looks like you got a wood supermatch stock too.

I'm not far from Hobart and it's always good to know a smith local that knows the platform. Shoot me his contact info for the future if you don't mind.

Awards Showcase

I'm guessing the Kreiger barrel was a contributing factor.

Tony.
