The sight was not USGI or even a good copy. I could not get repeatable movement. One click was .007, the the next was .004, next would be .009
2. I changed for a little more concentric and repeatable movement plus I require a hooded sight due to vision issues. I need a lense in the rear sight.
Groups would have been 4-6 inches without it. I am blind.
3. Shimming the stock and flipping the GC lock in order to snug things up a little was just common sense, IMO. I think it worked, at least mentally.
I wasn't worried about a loose stock and Front band.
4. Is`it ok with you if I replace/rework the trigger group? I am not a M14 expert by any stretch of the imagination but I kinda think a better trigger would help as well as other changes.
5. I really don't give a damn how it would have shot out of the box. It was unshootable with my vision and I have never built a Garand that shot well with a loose stock.
