| Current options for having the gas system unitized by welding
Who is out there unitizing the gas systems by welding? I want to get my second rifle unitized by welding that passes muster for CMP/NRA service rifle standards. If you have any pictures of the work and comments on quality and durability, it would be much appreciated.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for the suggestions. I emailed Mike at that same email address earlier this week. I have not heard back from him. Is he slow to return emails?
I will try Huey Gunner, when I looked at his post under the for sale section, he wrote he does the screw and glue method. I will ask him if he does weld them now too.
Thanks,
JW

JW,
I have a welded gas system. I can send it to you to try. If it works for you I'll trade you. This was done by Mike back when I was doing projects in AZ.
Forgot, even trade, you pay postage priority mail.

CePilot is having some issues that will keep him from welding for some time. I received a welded unit a couple of months ago from him and he advised he would be down for up to 6 months. Great work and I am hoping he recovers soon.

Pretty sure he is back up and welding. Just conversed with him last week about doing some welding for me. He may very well be pacing himself. Try emailing him again, he may have read it and got distracted and never replied. He is pretty good and replying. Sure do miss him being on the forum. I'll try and dig up a couple of pics of his work that I took a couple of years ago

I am glad he is back!!!!!
Here is a pic of a mike harlow welded GC
He does internal welds and or external welds or both. This is an example of internal welds. If you can imagine in your minds eye, two holes drilled at 10 and 2 o'clock on the front band from the hole the the gs goes through. He basically fills this in and then cleans up the welds and refinishes the entire unit. You can hardly make out the welds. I did not have him turn up the tabs on this one, however the subsequent units I did have them turned. |

I second CePilot. He is one of the best. A really great guy too, but I think I promised not to repeat that about him.

Has anybody had any luck getting ahold of cepilot? I've tried both email and PM but to no avail. I'm interested in getting my gas system welded by him.

Given a choice, which is best? Welded, Screwed and Glued, or Brazed? What are the advantages of each method?
