1000 yards approximately from the back of my pick up, out in Area 53 somwhere in the Nevada desert...
playing around on a Saturday afternoon with my Socom 16...

The bullets were striking rocks behind the target, which resulted in rock shrapnel flying back through the cardboard.
That is what all the small damage is on the face.

Thanks from islandermyk

Very very cool!!! Going out to a thousand with your SOCOM16! Sh*t, that had to be a lot of fun!
What type of ammo went through the barrel to hit that far with your 16?

I was shootin' FGMM, 168gr. .308 with a slight breeze, nice 80 degrees.
Yea, it is a lot of fun to pull the trigger then hear see the hit.

Ive shot at and HIT a 36" by 36" steel plate at Pala California. The offending weapon is my pride and joy, a LRB/TRW assembled by Andy at SEI. The rifle sits in an un-bedded USGI wood stock, Leupold 3.5x10 LRT MKIV scope, and a little luck. I was shooting the standard 175 gr boat tail, and the hits were repeatable. With all of the date recorded I could hit that target every time I went back to the range. However for some reason I could never hit the last target, which I recall is at 920 yds. I donít know if I ran out of skill, or if that was all I was going to get, but Iím still happy!

Springfield M-14, my issue SDM weapon. 500 meters with iron sights. September 2004 at Dona Ana range 17, just south of White Sands NM or North of Ft. Bliss. M118LR and M852.

I'll have to dig out my data book and post the serial number of that weapon, that'd be crazy if someone else on here has has used same rifle.

There's a certain deputy sheriff in Texas who had his M1A accurized by an 80 year old gentlman from GA who was on the original M14 design team who hits targets out to 1400 yards with the trusty old iron sights. I haven't seen it done but several others have verified his claim. Hell of a shot and hell of a rifle.

Not long shots but both put food on the table

I dropped a cow elk at 370 yards away! layed the forend on top of a barbwire fence and fired across a canyon as they were starting to run up and over the top. it was a bitch dragging that sucker down to the road!
good eating

the following year was a 28" wide 5x5 mule deer at about 75 yards
